Literature Text

There's poison in our blood
Flowing to our heart
And weakening it bit by bit

You can't even taste it
But it's getting stronger
And I can feel it shutting down

It's causing the muscles to tighten
Strangling the flow of love
I'm coughing up red-tinged black
And hacking on words unspoken

It's a silent killer
You are anesthetized
To the charts screaming
"Attack! Call the doc!
We are losing her
Stay with me
Can you hear me in there?"

No one knew it was in her
It was there for months
Her medication was missing
Her prescription unfulfilled
If only someone had noticed
The symptoms, the silences,
The withdrawn look in her face
The pleading gleam in her eye
She might be alive and well today

The last line was added just now because it was unfinished 'cause when I wrote it I had to run to class.

It might get more added to it later.

It took a different turn after the third paragraph.

*Sighs* The things I come up with on Valentine's Day.
